Simon Parcher holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Philosophy, Sociology and
Anthropology from Carleton University and is a graduate of Algonquin College’s
accelerated computer science program. He enjoyed a long career with Statistics
Canada as a computer software developer and statistical project manager. Simon is
currently president of Canadian Humanist Publications and editor of Humanist
Perspectives Magazine. He is also a writer, a humanist officiant and a certified
hypnotist.
Simon is a member of Humanist Ottawa, Humanist Canada, the New Enlightenment
Project and Humanist International. He planned and chaired several conferences for
Humanist Canada such as the 2011 environmental conference, Planetary Overload –
Survival of the human species. He served as executive producer for a nine-episode TV
talk show entitled Being Human, broadcast on Vision TV in Toronto. He has appeared
on TV Ontario’s The Agenda With Steve Paikin and was featured on a CBC National
News special about the waning influence of religion in rites of passage. Simon is a long-
time member of Toastmasters International and is a distinguished toastmaster.
